about

This is the first bit of music I wrote as The Chemical Mind. Imagine 15-year-old Nick’s excitement when he heard Xanthochroid’s “Blessed He With Boils” and Agalloch’s “Marrow of the Spirit” for the first time, thinking, “Hey, I can do that!” This is the result of my hubris. Please sit back and enjoy the monstrosity that is The Chemical Mind’s “Embarrassingly Bad Demos from 2013.”

The first two tracks feature vocals by Caroline Allen. The rest of the EP was supposed to have vocals but we realized it was crap about halfway through, and Caroline doesn't even really like metal.

"We, The Aberrations" (which, by the way, has a SUPER deep title) may sound familiar to you. That's because I adapted it into what is now Movement 1 of The Chemical Mind EP, which may be hard to enjoy now that you've heard the source material.

Note: the release date is listed as May 1 2013, but in reality these songs were written over the course of several jam sessions in 2013 and 2014, but compiled much later. I recorded and produced all of the instrumentals, and I wrote most of them as well, but a small portion of the music was written during these jam sessions by artists who are no longer contributing to The Chemical Mind.
